LWD: Three ways

I hesitated to do this post as it isn't sporty but a friend, who calls herself fashion-challenged, requested that I do it so here goes...

I have been looking for a LWD (Little White Dress) for awhile now but because I have two sets of sticky fingers running loose in my house I often balked at buying an expensive white dress for fear of it being ruined the first time I wore it. However, I couldn't pass up this Club Monaco shift dress that I found at a local consignment store because it was a steal and cute too! I love the sheer pattern at the shoulder and the fact that the cut of it is so versatile (which makes it easy to dress up or down).

While this dress isn't available anymore, Club Monaco has a stunning white dress that I wish I could snap up right now called the Lucie Dress. Here are some other options as well that are similar: Gap, Free People, Jay Godfrey Randall, Alice + Olivia, or Jarlo Billie. And here are three ways to wear that LWD of yours:

{Hat: Eugenia Kim Fedora (also hereSandals: JCrew (Similar here & here)}

 {Belt: Boden (Similar here & here) Wedge Sandals: Franco Sarto (Similar herehere)}

     {Blazer: Alfani (Similar here & here) Shoes: Franco Sarto (Similar here & here)}

There are many other ways to dress it up or down (think jean jacket or cardigan) so grab that LWD today and ignore the old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day as the fall term is called "winter white." :)

Mid-Week Getaway

A few pics from our mid-week getaway with my folks to the beautiful Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area.         It was nice to escape the heat and play in the sand a bit!

Happy Weekend to you!

Fit Fridays: Body and MIND!

CNN
I highly recommend reading this article by Chrissie Wellington (4-time World Ironman champion) about how training your mind may matter more than training your body during your workouts. Whether you are running your first 5k or training for the Hawaii Ironman, utilizing your mind in a positive way will help you excel - and help you enjoy the process.

In my opinion, a strong mind is not only helpful in sports but can also help you in your daily life. Whenever something seems daunting or scary such as a new business venture, approaching your boss for that well-deserved raise or even dealing with a screaming, tantrumy, testing-your-limits toddler you'll be able to handle it much better.

In addition to the article, below are a few great resources if you are looking to work on your mental toughness:

Happy "Tech" Birthday!

Photo source Pinterest

My birthday is in July and I got spoiled with lots of "techie" but fashionable gifts which seems pretty fitting for me. It's been a busy month working on my other project that I mentioned in one of my recent posts so I haven't been able to blog as much as I'd like to - but here is a quick birthday recap.

I love my new Rebecca Minkoff iPad case as it's not only stylish but protective as my girls could probably hurl my iPad across the room in this and I feel like it would still survive. (Seeing as two of my iPhones met untimely deaths due to kid related incidents this is a good thing.) In addition, my friend surprised me with this cute chevron printed iPhone cover for my birthday from etsy saying that I needed to have some outfit options for my phone - love it. (It's like the adult version of barbie dress-up!)

As for the GPS watch, I had been wanting a new one to run with as my old one required a huge clunky unit that strapped onto my upper arm. It's amazing how quickly technology has changed in five short years. I got this women's specific Garmin Forerunner 110 for my birthday and so far it's been great. But, I already have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it because it is so easy to use but I hate it because it made me realize how much I had been slacking off pace-wise. Needless to say my butt has been getting kicked into shape lately in my workouts. I highly recommend this watch if you are looking to improve your pace and stay accountable.

The best present that I got though was a shopping trip sans kids with my mom who is visiting this month. It felt like a vacation! I could actually eat my lunch slowly, catch up with my mom without being interrupted fifty times and take my time while shopping for clothes. Heaven! Needless to say, I tend to shop online a lot these days because as many of you know, it is nearly impossible to focus on clothes with one kid running around with boundless energy and another screaming their head off wanting to be let out of the stroller. I tried it once and needless to say I have never attempted it again.

For any of my readers with birthdays this month- happy birthday!
